Old King Cole

Old King Cole

Was a merry old soul

Stuck his head in a toilet bowl

Jumped out the window

With his dick In his hand

And yelled, “Hey motherfucker look at me I’m superman

Energy Healing with water

Informant is a water based energy healer. In the healing practice that informant is a part of, you submerge the crystal into water during a healing session. You submerge it in water to dispel bad energy. She learned this from shaman teacher.

Her friend is a fire based energy healer and they burn their crystals which is considered extremely negative by water healers.

Jerome, AZ

The informant travelled to Jerome, Arizona with is wife sometime in 2011.

From their visit they learned that Jerome used to be a mining village. One day, there was an economic crisis because people could not find any more resources in the mines. As a result, most of the people that lived in Jerome fled the town. The people that remained were too poor too move so they remained in Jerome till their deaths. Now, the town is still desolate and they say that the town is haunted. The old houses that used to line the streets are now storefronts and two separate shop owners told the informant and his wife that they hear people talking and walking upstairs at night.

The informant says that Jerome has become a tourist attraction. He said that the town provides tourists with a kitschy experience – as you’re driving towards the desolate town there are abandoned shacks, old signs, and even a skeleton. In the town there are several half built buildings leaving the impression that it really was abandoned. The informant implied that the town’s only purpose today is to cater towards what the tourists wanted to see – being a ghost town. It is interesting that even the shop keepers in this town – the informant said there were only tourist shops – are committed to keeping Jerome’s reputation as a ghost town alive. I wonder if the shopkeepers actually hear creaks and talking, but what’s even more fascinating is that this is a whole entire town that flourishes off of it’s narrative.

Lipschitz

The informant says that when he was younger his mother used to tell him and his sister about a joke that she used to say to a classmate in high school. Her classmate had the last name “Lipschitz,” so she and her friends would say to this kid: “if your lipschitz then my ass smiles.”

The informant says that his mom repeated this story several times. He comes from a family where everyone always tries to one up each other with there jokes. They’re extremely competitive when it comes to being funny. Perhaps the informant’s mother used to repeat this diligently as a means to impress her children. According to the informant, this joke that his mother said to Lipschitz was spread around the school – because of this joke, everyone knew who Lipschitz was and his name because several of her peers would go up to Lipschitz and say this. The informant says that if he meets someone named Lipschitz, he will say tell them his mother’s old joke.

What’s Your Spirit Animal?

In the informants’s family one of her grandfathers was an eccentric inventor – he made furniture – and he was really into hunting. Eventually, he decided to buy an island off of the coast of Michigan. So, when the informant was younger she went there with her family during the summers a lot. Since she is an only child, she was left alone a lot. She would spend a lot of time in the forest and eventually named it the “Magic Forest” because she thought that the trees turned into furniture. The forest is still called the “Magic Forrest.”

When you turn thirteen in informant’s family, a council of people selected (that are of her family) choose a spirit animal for you. They choose it based on personality traits and the person has no input, it has to be a unanimous vote. They hold the ceremony on the island off the coast of Michigan and the informant’s aunt makes marionettes in the shape of what the spirit animal (see attached). My informant’s spirit animal is a white wolf.

The informant’s family’s traditions are extremely ceremonious and exclusive meaning that only members who identify with the informant’s family can be involved. Apparently the informant’s family takes this decision very seriously and the informant identifies with her spirit animal, despite it not being her choice.
