Each sorority and fraternity have their own national colors that that symbolize their own uniqueness and Specialty to the girls and boys in each house. Colors are also use a separation and differentiation between each house and use as a symbol of each house. The colors can be coordinating or complementary but are ultimately meant to the purpose of distinguishing form other houses. Shirts, the flag, backpacks, and other items that can represent the houses have these colors. I think the colors can be nice if they are colors one likes otherwise it must be annoying to wear colors one does not like to wear.

Sorority and Fraternity Handshakes
Each house has its own handshake. Having their own handshake separates them from all the other fraternities and sororities. It is essentially a greeting for just one house. This handshake has been passed down since the very beginning of the chapter and it is secret meaning that no other member may share or have knowledge of the handshake if they are not in the house. It is a way to make the members of the house have something they only can share. It also represents their membership and devotion to the house. It is the only way a member can enter the session of “chapter”, a meeting for the entire house, so it is the gateway to all the folklore, traditions, and values that the house shares. I think it is a very cultish and old-fashioned tradition of the house.
Pledge Pins
Pledge pins are given to a new member or pledge of a sorority fraternity when they are first offered membership and they are to be worn until the initiation ceremony. They are used to separate the new members from the active members much like the separation of class in society. These pins are the same throughout all generations of pledge classes and have symbolic meaning of affiliation and membership. They represent the affiliation of each member to the chapter and that wearing this pin they are representing the chapter through their behavior. Pledges of fraternities have their pins that symbolize the honor it is to be in a fraternity and the hard work they did to earn the brotherhood. It is a reminder of the honor of brotherhood and sisterhood and all the values and traditions that come with it. I think pins are great tools for representation but it is the meaning behind them that make them truly great items not the pins themselves.
Moon cake
Mooncake for the Chinese is a special dessert eaten during and before the Chinese New Year. It is supposed to bring the entire family together for the lunar new year. In ancient times, the mooncake was an offering to the moon in order to please it so good seasons would come for crops and good luck for the New Year. Mooncakes symbolized the reunion of extended family, a value very important to the Chinese culture. I enjoy moon cake it is both delicious and familiar to me,
Fargue
Fargue is a delicacy in European society. It is also used as a spread for bread. It is a symbol of wealth and class for the higher classes of the European culture. If one family can serve this out of dinner party, it is very clear they have a lot of money and that they can send their kids to great schools and they probably have a very nice house and vineyard. It’s appeal is not so much in its taste but its expensive price and meaning. I personally do not enjoy the taste of fargue but it is considered a very high class delicacy.
