THE STORY

Informant

first Kyle like started out as a joke but just because like lights would flicker . me and Danielle my roommate,  we’re like oh that’s weird to me look down and it looks like someone had unplugged the lamp like I don’t know how that could happen that That’s weird so we’re like that shouldn’t have happened they think the next day I was standing in the common room and we heard the where repeat like the clean dish We heard the forks move like how could that have happened that was weird and then I don’t know One night after we had named it kylie  after the Vine sully my roommate had her phone out our roommate and it glitched out and started playing the vine that we named Kyle after which was very creepy. I know that one time when someone was alone they heard doors opening but no one was in the suite we never saw a presence  or heard anything but the way that things were moving and happening really seem like there was someone here.

Me: The environment we live in is a dormitory in people have lived here before so maybe do you think that that is why you think it is a ghost?

Informant : Yeah maybe there used to be a girl that died in this suite or they brought a ghost in. We actually got someone to put holy water around so we could bless it.

Background info

The informant explained how it brought the suite together in weird way because all of them shared experiences with kyle. This ghost means a lot to them because they created his name together with the vine. It was actually just a joke at first but then weird things started happening

My thoughts:

I think this ghost really did bring the suite together in a way and it was sort of a made up feeling of being in a new place. No ghost would actually be their if it wasn’t for the suitemates who made it up.  The idea that they are freshman and moved into a new suite would help them create this legend together because they were getting used to living together in such a new environment like a dormitory.

STORY

I’m from India and there’s a fort near my cousin’s house India which has been said to have belonged two Indians in the late 1600’s This fort was used for protection against the British that would come and take these Indians for labor and use them as slaves of their own kind. My cousin wants was walking back for a party really late and she never came home that night she was found outside had passed out outside in front of the fort and she woke up everything was normal and that night she was found brushing her teeth sleepwalking brushing her teeth in the middle of the night and one of her brothers came and asked why are you brushing your teeth? She turned to him and started saying bad words and freaking out on him and telling him why are you here why are you in here ? What do you want for me? He woke up his sister and she was like oh my gosh did I actually say that I didn’t even know. The next night she was brushing your teeth again and this time a Spiritual figure came and was trying to help the family figure out what was wrong. That same night the spiritual figure asked what are you doing in the girl said what do you want from us instead started talking in plural and when asked who what was the name She said it was David and a bunch of different American names which brought them to think that it was the British. To this day my family doesn’t talk about it.

Background

Informant really likes this story because it bring them closer to history and the family as well as his culture. This story is really meaningful to the informant because it was an actual experience from his cousin that leads him to think that ghosts are real.

Context

In the late 1600s the British would actually come and take people like this and this is probably a ghost story of history and the feeling that they are never gone even though they seem gone.

The story

My gram’s house is haunted we all know it and one time when I was little I was playing with my cousins out in the living room because there’s like construction going on in the house so there wasn’t like a lot of other spaces until we are sitting in the living room playing with our dolls and we heard footsteps in the attic and we were really confused because there was no one home . And so we kind of ignored it the first few times and just kept playing and then like we are getting scared and also like frustrated because you didn’t understand like if somebody was messing with us so we decided to like go and check and That was not happening but we went and like looked in the backyard and like in the rooms and we like counted everybody who is at the house so I can make sure there was no way anybody could be upstairs because you’re just really freaking out But like my sounds like loud like footsteps why do they say your grandma’s house How old is the house really old really really old and actually stories of like like the people who have liked live there in the past like I don’t remember exactly but something really crazy happening in the house So there’s that and also my great grandpa passed away in the house. You think is it because like they feel like they will go so note that house basically

Background

This informant felt  very attached to the story because she had experienced it first-hand and it meant a lot to her because it was during your childhood. The attic of her grandmother’s house has always been very creepy and hear noises coming from the attic freaked her out.  Her grandmother’s house is very old and many people were said to hang themselves and kill themselves in that house so a lot of the things that happened or unexplained.
Context

This is a traditional ghost story about the property of the people who had lived there before.  the idea that the person that has lived in the house before still is attached to the house in a spiritual way which is the plot to many ghost stories. Usually by hanging and death in the house bring spirits into the house in which they cannot rest.

MY DEVIL HUSBAND

STORY

I woke up in the middle of the night for some reason and I went to the kitchen and I saw my husband staring at me. He was smoking and I don’t like that he smokes inside of the house so I told him what are you doing turn that off and he just looked at me and you wouldn’t stop looking at me. He had such a scary look in his eyes and I started to get a scared and then he started to laugh. I then turn to the living room and I see my husband lying down on the couch sleeping and I run to him and I jump on top of him and I scream and I tell him wake up wake up and I told him what I saw and then that figure was gone.

Background: The informant experienced this encounter firsthand and she feels really strongly about this.  she believes that her husband at the time was allowing bad spirits and energy to get inside of him and manipulate him because of his regular drug use back then. She believes that bad spirits and energies come inside of you when you are doing drugs and sinning.  she says what she saw was a bad spirit doing the thing she hated him doing the most. it is very meaningful to her because she will never forget the face that looked back at her and looking at her actual husband sleeping on the couch. The house they were living in had bad spirits in it as well.  you would hear things at night and it was said when the land was bought out, they had found unborn babies buried in the dirt. It was said to be an abortion clinic when abortions were illegal.

Analysis

This story  reveals a lot  of both haunting of houses and demons mixed together. The idea that the spirits of the babies and the oldness of the house haunted the informant made the idea of a demon entering more real. many demon stories do occur when something bad is traveling into  the house. This marriage was already bad and the alcohol and drug use would not stop. This can create tension and stress leading up to events that are difficult to explain
